Uniformity

Some people like wearing uniforms. Some people put up with wearing uniforms. Some people loathe wearing uniforms. Which category do you think this lot will fit into?

Matthew and I are thinking this for the new shop...

  1. wow. you have a homogeonous shop. homogenous stock. homogeonous look. now human beings being turned into homegonous drones who are nothing more than shelf stackers because they have no say in what books their bookshop should have. perfect. a uniformity of mediocrity. what more could you want?

  2. I guess they could want less mean-minded anonymous comments... I always figure that if you are going to be nasty you should at least own up to it. Thanks for the funny posts, Matthew and Adam, and hooray for the new shop!

  3. Or they could possibly also want readers who actually click on the links and get what the post is about... sorry, anonymous 1, my mistake.

  4. waterstones booksellers have plenty of say in what their shops carry...some branches out there have some fantastic hand picked range that indies will struggle to match in volume. Look at Bath for example...two great indies with with a decent range competing with a waterstones rammed with loads of themed, quirky recommended books...I reckon the staff picked those, not head office. yes, the uniforms are tacky but who really cares what the staff are wearing when they are able to recommend such good titles?
