ReplyDelete…..there was some god-awful Smash Hits of the 80's countdown thing on one of the numerous music TV channels over the weekend which I left playing in the background whilst doing something more interesting……..several hours full of the usual “classics”.
ReplyDeleteBut then I heard the opening bars of Buffalo Stance.
Four minutes of enraptured viewing, subtle booty shaking and a perverse nostalgia for a time when it was physically impossible for me to have had any more acne on my face were only disturbed by Nicola (who would’ve been about four years old when the song was released).
I like to think that her “What is THIS?!” was said out of sheer delight or even awe at hearing Neneh for the first time.
I didn’t clarify it with her.
The alternative was too upsetting...
